The Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa - RNP) along with the RNP Point of Presence in Piauí will host, between June 12 and 14, the state’s first Workshop on Network Technologies (WTR). The activities will take place from 8AM to 6PM at the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI), in the city of Teresina.

The purpose of the meeting is to bring together technical teams of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) area from the main public and private educational and research ‘institutions of Piauí to exchange experiences and learnings and to stimulate the spread of new integrated technologies in the academic environment. The Workshops on Network Technologies are part of the RNP Program Training and Integration System that promotes technical training opportunities for professionals from academic institutions in Brazil.

The schedule for the event includes presentations about connectivity, statistics and the safety of academic institutions in Piauí, data center automation system, Internet of Things, smart network applications (smart grids) and the Connected Northeast program, which will increase the capacity of the network operated by RNP to 100 Gbps. A training course in the fundamentals of Governance of IT will also be offered in partnership with the Networks School (ERS).

Participation in the workshop is free for students, employee, and teachers linked to the institutional users of RNP. It is necessary to register for the event in advance: wtr.rnp.br/pop-pi/inscricao.

The RNP Point of Presence in Piauí (PoP-PI/RNP) connects over 10 user institutions, with a special mention to the federal universities of Piauí (UFPI) and of Vale do São Francisco (Univasf), the State University of Piauí (UESPI), the Getúlio Vargas Hospital (HGV), one of the most important health centers in the area, and two research centers of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), among other institutions connected to the Teresina metropolitan network (Poti network).
