From June 25th to 29th, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP), together with the RNP Point of Presence in Minas Gerais, will promote the sixth edition of the Network Technologies Workshop (WTR) in the state. The event gathers managers and technical teams from the main, public and private, research and education institutions in Minas Gerais to exchange knowledge, training courses and dissemination of advanced technologies to the academic environment. The activities will be held free of charge from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Department of Computer Science (DCC) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
According to the technical coordinator Murilo Monteiro, the workshop is a unique space to the exchange of experiences among the participants of the event, aimed at the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) professionals of the institutions connected to the PoP-MG. "At the WTR, professionals have the opportunity to participate in mini-courses, lectures and chats, with the purpose of obtaining new technical knowledge, and networking, which in my opinion, is one of the most important activities of the event", he says.
The event will offer practical courses in partnership with the Information and Coordination Center of Ponto BR (NIC.br), the Networks School (ESR) and the Security Incident Response Centre (CAIS/RNP), with topics that vary between ITIL methodology, techniques to contain DDoS attacks and operational practices for autonomous systems. The agenda of lectures will bring discussions on the control of access to wired and wireless networks; automatic IP distribution with distributed management, and other subjects.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge for students, staff and professors connected to the institutions that use RNP. It is necessary to pre-register at the address: wtr.rnp.br/pop-mg/inscrição.
The RNP Point of Presence in Minas Gerais (PoP-MG) is located in the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and connects the main education and research institutions of the state, such as the campuses of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG), PUC-Minas and the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais, as well as the SARAH Network of Rehabilitation Hospitals and other institutions connected to the metropolitan network of Belo Horizonte.
