On March 18, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP) attended EUBrazilCloudForum meeting, held in Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF), in Rio. The entity, linked to European Commission and to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), was created to support collaborative projects between  Brazilian and European scientific communities, as well as to outline strategies regarding cloud computing.

The purpose of this project was to create an action plan for each collaborative project selected by the Third Coordinated Call between Brazil and European Union, in order to adjust them to the catalogue of cloud computing services and tools provided by EUBrazilCloudForum.

The projects EUBrazilCloudConnect, EUBra-BIGSEA, HPC4E, Futebol, SecureCloud and Fibre, which was represented by RNP, were part of the program.  According to Leandro Ciuffo, RNP’s Manager of Communities and Advanced Applications, the presentation held by Fibre showed the platform’s expansion plans and the replacement of software control. “We also emphasized the desire of incorporating cloud infrastructures to testbed, in order to also enable experiments with cloud computing”.

Some aspects highlighted by European community were the cloud use policies, privacy and data portability, international traffic between Europe and Latin America and relationship with suppliers. Another concern was to plan technical cooperation between the teams and presentation between these two regions.

EuBrazilCloudForum representatives also provided to researchers strategies to increase visibility of cloud services, resources for promotion in social networks, partnerships in events and success stories.
