Hackers do Bem launches public call for selection of Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) proposals in cybersecurity

The Hackers do Bem program launched, on 06/30, a public call for submission of Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) proposals in the area of cybersecurity.  

The first cycle of this call aims to receive proposals for the development of new products or artifacts that can be used in the program's cybersecurity training activities. Some examples of expected proposals include open source simulators, attack environment emulators, dataset generators, among others.  

Proposals for tools that can be used at RNP's Points of Presence (POPs) and related activities are also expected, especially during students' residencies. Solutions that facilitate the development of practical skills and support participants during their work experiences, such as traffic analyzers, specialized monitors and threat detectors.  

HEIs and startups can submit proposals 

Proposals for this call must be submitted by research groups linked to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), both public and private. If there are startups associated with these institutions, they may also be involved in the proposals. The selected projects will undergo entrepreneurial training mentoring, aiming to provide support and guidance to fellows during the development of their work. The submission of proposals must be led by researchers from the academic community. 

A working group (WG) proposal must indicate an academic coordinator and a team of collaborating fellows. Five WGs will be selected per cycle, lasting 12 months. The value of the grant, which will be made available per Working Group (WG) group, is R$11,000.00/month.

About the Hackers do Bem program  

Hackers do Bem is an initiative that aims to train young people for free to work in the area of cybersecurity and privacy. The program is a partnership between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) with RNP, Senai and the Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Brazilian Software (Softex).
