Unijorge has joined the System of Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa (RNP). The partnership signing, which aims to place the institution in a network with all the academic connections in the world, was held on November 26, at the Paralela Campus (Methodology room).
Unijorge has three campi in the city of Salvador (Bahia State). It is now one of the main university centers in the state and will now be the first private institution to permanently be part of the RNP System, a Brazilian platform for education, research and innovation, which offers high performance internet access.
According to RNP, other private institutions already use their network traffic (internet connectivity), but none make up the system permanently, using the package of services and facilities aimed at teaching and research. With this partnership, Unijorge starts to be connected with the best higher education institutes, research funding agencies, innovative companies, health institutions with teaching and research, museums and cultural institutions in Brazil and worldwide. Adherence to the RNP System also results in savings in communication expenses of over 80% compared to the market.
Unijorge produces, systematizes, and disseminates knowledge through the provision of on-site undergraduate courses and distance education, technological undergraduation, as well as extension courses and graduation courses in all areas of knowledge. The University Center is already connected to the RNP, through the Salvador Point of Presence (PoP), located at the UFBA Information Technology Superintendence, based on high-speed optical networks via the Salvador Metropolitan Network (Remessa).
