With support from RNP, Cine Brasília hosts a screening to celebrate the centenary of Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembène

In partnership with the Cinema Management of Cine Humberto Mauro, the Clóvis Salgado Foundation and the Palácio das Artes de Belo Horizonte, Cine Brasília presents the exhibition “Ousmane Sembène’s Cinema - A Tribute to the Centenary of the Pioneer of African Cinemas” in the capital. With support from the French Embassy in Brazil and the Institut Français, the exhibitions take place free of charge from 8/10 to 16, celebrating the one hundred years since the birth of master Ousmane Sembène. Ticket collection at the cinema box office takes place from 9am to 9pm. More information about the exhibition at this link

On Friday, 8/11, Janaína Oliveira, curator of the exhibition and researcher, teaches the workshop Ousmane Sembène, cinema and Africa. The activity is free and the result of a partnership with the National Education and Research Network (RNP) and Cinemas em Rede, an initiative that brings together cinemas and exhibitors from federal educational institutions. The objective of the workshop is to provide an in-depth reflection on the multiple dimensions of the Senegalese director's work, taking into account his actions in the field of cinema policies on the African continent, as well as his dialogue with filmmakers of his generation and the influence he had on subsequent generations. The activity starts at 2:30 pm and is open to the public. Places are limited to 50 participants and to register simply fill out the online form
