Phase 2 of the OpenRAN@Brasil project was approved in November 2022. The stage, which takes place in parallel with the first phase, aims at research, development and innovation in relevant technological components of the OpenRAN architecture.  

Initiated in December 2021, the first phase involves the construction of a demonstration and experimentation platform, distributed in two locations (Rio de Janeiro and Campinas), containing all the components of a 5G network composed of open and disaggregated equipment and controlled by an open software stack. The third phase of the project foresees the expansion of the testbed (experiment environments) and applications. 

OpenRAN@Brasil is a program of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MCTI) that aims to accelerate the development of the open network ecosystem based on research, development, innovation and training in 5G technologies and applications.
