RNP has signed a cooperation term with the State of Paraíba Research Support Foundation (Fapesq) for the grating of optical fibre pairs in the metropolitan network of Campina Grande (MetroCG). The government of Paraíba will extend the network of Campina Grande and will assign two pairs of fibre optics to RNP in the new route. Throughout the extension of the new MetroCG, surveillance cameras will be installed for public safety.

The event took place on March 19th, at the Palácio Redenção, with the presence of the state governor, Ricardo Coutinho. At the time, the state secretary Francilene Procópio announced the raising of about BRL 33 million for Science, Technology and Innovation in the state.

Four notices were issued and other agreements and terms of concession were signed to encourage projects in the area of Science and Technology. The notices are aimed at supporting scientific, technological and innovation research activities developed by researchers from Paraíba, and at stablishing improvements in the infrastructure of the State University of Paraíba (UEPB).
