RNP offers free course to train professionals in the area of digital health

- 25/10/2022

Workers and health professionals from all over Brazil will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in digital health. RNP (National Teaching and Research Network) has opened enrollment for a free update program in the area, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), offered in the Distance Learning modality (EaD).

RNP's proposal in offering the Professional Update Program in Digital Health (PAP-SD) is to contribute to the digital transformation in health, with the training of health workers and professionals so that they can act more effectively in the digital practice of health, using technology resources, such as teleservice and electronic medical records, in their work routine. Registration began on 10/18 and will remain open until December. The first course, Basic Skills for Digital Health, will start on November 1st. The unprecedented content was created with the expansion of the Telemedicine University Network (RUTE), which has been operating in Brazil for 16 years under the coordination of RNP.

One of the prerequisites to participate in the program is to be in the last year or to have completed technical or higher education and to be working professionally in the health area. Interested parties should access the Program’s web page, read the notice and register through the link available.

The program has a total workload of 180 hours, divided into two stages. Participants must have a computer with internet access to complete the activities and exercises. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for managing their own study schedule.

The first stage of the Program is Basic Training in Digital Health and consists of three self-instructional courses that will be made available on the AVA platform of the Directorate of Technologies in Education at the Federal University of Maranhão (DTED/UFMA), RNP's partner in this first stage of the initiative. Among the topics addressed are digital transformation, practical applications in digital health, digital challenges, security concepts, digital law and bioethics and digital emotional intelligence, among others.

The 250 candidates who obtain the best grades will qualify for the second stage of the PAP-SD. In addition to a good score, at this stage it is also necessary for the selected professional to already act as a preceptor, guiding students and residents in the areas of nursing, medicine, radiology and public health, among others. Health administrative managers and IT professionals from institutions linked to a RUTE unit will also be able to qualify to participate in the second stage of the PAP-SD.

In the second stage, those approved will have the support of tutors to develop digital health activities, focused on assistance, research and teaching and the content will be made available on the EaD platform of the Escola Superior de Redes (ESR) of RNP. The forecast is that classes in this phase will start in February 2023.

To be approved, the candidate must reach a minimum of 70 points in the activities and still participate in at least 75% in each one of them.
