On May 4th, the Technology Foresight Committee for Video Collaboration (CT-Video), coordinated by the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP), has launched a call for proposals to fund R & D projects lasting up to six months. It aims to fund undergraduates or graduate to develop studies that explore the use of video-based applications and remote collaboration, according to the areas of interest by elected members of the committee itself.

The projects are grouped into five thematic areas: collaborative video production featuring the laboratories participating in the CT-Video; editing and finishing of produced videos; diagnosis and mapping standards bodies; mapping trends and gaps of video applications being developed in the country; and state of the art in video collaboration internationally.

Announced during the WRNP 2014, the committee aims to bring together researchers in video collaboration to create a forum and generate future recommendations, technological forecasting and interoperability discussions. "The committee is open to all interested parties. To join, simply sign up on the group's mailing list and participate in meetings", according to the RNP’s Communities and Advanced Applications manager, Leandro Ciuffo.

In 2014, the committee produced two documents: a report describing the mapping of the research state of the art in video collaboration in Brazil; and another that presents a vision of the future of the area with a view of Brazilian researchers.

Based on the activities developed by prospected research groups, they identified two major themes to be the most relevant and highest concentration of knowledge: timing and content indexing, applied in the areas of telehealth and distance education.
