On September 20, in Brasília, the announcement of rules for the 4th Coordinated Call BR-EUs will be executed. The aim is to support and promote joint research and development projects in subjects Internet of Things, 5G and Cloud Computing, through consortia between institutions, Brazilian and foreign companies. The event is part of the program of ICTWeek 2016, sponsored by Brazil and the European Commission, between September 20 and 23.

ICTWeek is a partnership between Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC) and the European Commission, under the Sector Dialogues program. During the first day of event, the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP) will set up a workshop to show the preliminary results of the previous project selection and present information to entrepreneurs and researchers interested in participating in the 4th Call. During 2015, the contribution to the five contemplated projects was € 7 million in the areas of cloud computing, high performance computing and experimental platforms.

The workshop program also brings an open panel to the participation of interested bidders to submit projects. In this space, researchers can quickly display (by means of a pitch) objectives and research areas in order to attract partners.

According to the coordinator of RNP, Wanderson Paim, the call is another step towards the consolidation of the relationship between Brazil and the European Union in ICT. "International cooperation is highly beneficial because it encourages the creation of new partnerships and the exchange of information between researchers and companies concerned with technological advancement. The results have been satisfactory and this leads us to believe that we are on track", he said.
