What are testbeds?
 

A testbed is a platform for conducting rigorous, transparent and replicable experiments on scientific theories, computational tools and new technologies. A testbed can include software, hardware and network components which, when combined, enable the performance and collection of the data resulting from these experiments.

Who can request the service?

Researchers, students under supervision and teachers from education, teaching and research institutions connected to the RNP System. 

What are examples of resources available for user experimentation? 

Geographically distributed servers, Networks with OpenFlow Switches, IoT Middleware, Networks with P4 Switches, Disaggregated Transponders (TIP Cassini with ONF Stratum), Programmable network slice, Shared computing resources, Identity Providers (IdPs), Service Providers (SPs), Discovery Services (WAYF and EDS), Shibboleth Federation, SimpleSAMLphp Federation, OpenID Connect Provider, OpenID Connect Client, Public Key Infrastructure for Education and Research (ICPEdu), Docker Container, Kubernetes Container, perfSONAR measurement points, IPv6 Addressing and others.

How long can I keep the funds allocated to carry out my research/project?

An average of three months, with the possibility of extension. 

Can I add computing resources from my institution/project to the testbed? 

Yes, you can! You can bring your own computing resources to be added to your experiment. Contact us. This approach is known in other international testbeds as "Bring your own device" (BYOD).
