RNP has a leading role on the TNC15 schedule

RNP collaborators participated in the Terena Network Conference (TNC15) that gathered more than 650 world academic networks’ representants, between 15 and 18 June, in Porto (Portugal). The annual meeting, organized by Géant, presented a unique insight on the last developments in research nets, in the technical field, and in the area of application and management.

In its 31st edition, TNC15 was also an opportunity to institutional networks, within a context favorable to sharing technical and administrative experiences. RNP had a key role in such schedule with four presentations.

On 17 June, P&D Director Michael Stanton presented the RNP experience in the 8K broadcast from Brazil to Japan, in the session devoted to video conference. In the same session, Tatsuya Fujii, from the Japanese Telecom Operator NTT, talked about the redundancy on broadcasting and in Forward error correction (FEC).

Services Manager Jean Carlo Faustino shared the experience in managing, integration, and expansion of our Service Desk. The presentation performed on 16 June, highlighted the service structure for assistance of a great number of client institutions with a small group of analysts, besides illustrating in graphics the results of the Service Desk implementation and management, as the average time of calls and call resolution.

P&D Coordinator Rafael Valle participated in two sessions. One about distance learning (16 June), where he highlighted the Cacuriá tool, regarding the creation of learning objects. In the other one, on 15 June, in the session about the future of eduroam, Rafael presented ColisEU, the assessment of wireless network.
