The Paraguayan academic network Arandu was relaunched on June 20, in the capital city Asunción. The ceremony marked the country’s inclusion in the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (CLARA), which operates RedCLARA, providing access to the high-performance network infrastructure for education, research and innovation of Latin America, as well as other networks the world over.

As a member of CLARA’s board, RNP’s Engineering and Operations director, Eduardo Grizendi, took part in the event, delivering a presentation about CLARA and also RNP. The event was attended by the president of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, the minister of the National Department of Information and Communication Technology (Senatics), David Ocampos, authorities of the Executive Branch and researchers.

At the occasion, minister David Ocampos explained the operation and benefits of the connection with RedCLARA. “Today, a Paraguayan researcher can enroll in any of the thousands of open calls worldwide and be a part of research teams that include several countries. In addition, by being connected to RedCLARA, the researchers are able to put into practice projects or prototypes, given that they have access to resources such as simulators, supercomputer, etc.”, he celebrated.

In his opinion, “the fostering of science is the key to plant solutions to local problems, which can be solved with the support of collaborative networks generated in universities and research groups. As a part of the government’s strategy of supporting the formation of leaders that bring development to the country, Paraguay’s connection now allows a brilliant mind in our nation to improve him or herself and continue with his or her education, generating knowledge and added value”.
