Connected North: RNP starts contracting for the service of installation of underwater optical cables

The National Education and Research Network (RNP) published on Friday (19/3) the Term of Reference for the contracting of Installation services of underwater optical cables for the Connected North Program. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Communications and is supported by RNP, aims to build a pilot project called Infopath 00, which will connect Macapá to Santarém. Tenders must be submitted by 19/4/2021.

The selection and contracting process (ADC/10097/2021) aims to ensure a responsible, economical, safe, and quality installation of an infrastructure based on optical fiber cables, which will be installed along a bed of rivers in the Amazon region, linking five municipalities in the area: Macapá/AP, Almeirim/PA, Monte Alegre/PA, Alenquer/PA, and Santarém/PA.

The contracting process is aimed at companies that provide technical services for the transshipment, handling, and fitting of the underwater optical cable; construction and installation of the anchor boxes; transshipment, release, protection, and anchoring of underwater optical cable; and post-installation of underwater optical cable.
