RNP participates in a meeting to create a plan aimed at the digital transformation of healthcare in the Americas

RNP participated, between December 12th and 14th, in Washington (USA), in the strategic meeting for the development of an operational plan for the implementation of the roadmap for the digital transformation of the health sector in the Americas, held by the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health (EIH) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).

The national coordinator of the University Telemedicine Network (RUTE/RNP), Luiz Ary Messina, collaborated in the discussion showing the actions and opportunities within Digital Health in Brazil, from the perspective of RNP.

The meeting was attended by PAHO/WHO and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) directors, in addition to representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Peru. From Brazil, the coordinator of the ICT Health survey, from the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br), Luciana Portilho, who is also coordinator of the Study Group on Human Resources Training at CT-Saúde, also participated. Digital of RNP, the advisor of the Organization of American States (OAS) and representative of Itamaraty, Ciro Leal, the consultant of PAHO/Mexico Adriano Tavares and the consultant of USP and partner and director of Websetorial Economic Consulting, Patricia Marrone.

The discussion on the operational plan takes into account the following performance indicators:

  • Inclusive Digital Health
  • Interoperability
  • Human rights
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Information security
  • Public health architecture


The final document should be published by February 2023.
