MCTI and RNP promote a workshop to develop indicators for the National Research Infrastructure Platform

- 18/11/2022

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), through the Secretariat for Research and Scientific Training (SEPEF), and RNP are promoting next week, on November 21st and 22nd, a workshop with the aim of collecting data for collaborative development of value indicators for the National Research Infrastructure Platform (PNIPE MCTI).

The workshop corresponds to two collaborative work sessions, in which operational objectives (O) and key results (KRs) will be constructed from the platform's strategic guidelines. KRs are a management methodology. This data will enable the construction and monitoring of actions to achieve the objectives.

The workshop is aimed at users of the tool and will be held online. According to the schedule, there will be moments of individual and collective work, using the Miro collaborative tool. Organizers recommend interested parties to familiarize themselves with the tool in advance through the tutorial available on this link.

PNIPE MCTI seeks to give visibility to the Brazilian infrastructure, foster its innovation potential and optimize resources. The purpose of the platform is to gather information about the research infrastructure in the Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institutions (STIs) in the country, enabling access by the scientific/technological community and companies and promoting their shared use. Currently, PNIPE has more than 300 institutions, 3 thousand laboratories and 16 thousand registered equipment.

Examples of research infrastructure are large research facilities, laboratories, pilot plants, vivariums, clean rooms, high-performance computer networks, databases, collections, observatories, telescopes, research ships, reserves and experimental stations, among others.

Through the digital database, it is possible to know, quickly, the amount, where they are located, the availability of equipment and laboratories and make contact with the person in charge. The platform also offers the 'Sharing' feature, which provides for the use of laboratories by multiple users. The developers believe that the tool can stimulate a new culture of using laboratories among Brazilian scientists, as is already happening in North American and European universities.
