Deep techs and quantum technologies debates are highlights of the WRNP

Deep techs are businesses that apply technological research and engineering innovations to propose novel solutions to complex problems or drive transformation. The WRNP discusses the topic in the session “Deep Techs and NetRNP Techs: knowing and exploring synergies”, mediated by André Marins, RNP's research and development manager, and José Henrique Dieguez, RNP's research, development and innovation advisor.

The debate, on the 24th, at 10:30 am, has the participation of three businessmen from the sector: Marcelo de Abreu Borges, CEO of Wisecare, a company that creates solutions to facilitate and enable the professional interaction of people, Eloi Rocha Neto, CEO of Liteme, a pioneer in energy intelligence, and Guy Perelmuter, CEO of Grids Capital and winner of the Jabuti 2020 Award in the category of best science book for the publication of “Present future: The world powered by technology”, in which he discusses the set of technologies that will define the next decades of the modern world.

Guests will explore the concept and context of investments in Deep Techs in Brazil and around the world, discuss potential synergies in this world with Net/RNP Techs with the examples of startups Wisecare and LiteMe and reflect on the challenges for the success of these platforms with the RNP System and the market.

In another session at 11:30 am, the WRNP welcomes Celso Jorge Villas Boas, professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), to talk about quantum technologies. Villas Boas has experience in Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Science, working mainly in quantum communication and computation and fundamentals of the interaction between radiation and matter. He leads the lecture “The transformation of quantum information into market value”, moderated by José Ferreira Rezende, professor at Coppe/UFRJ and academic-scientific advisor at RNP.

According to Villas Boas, “quantum theory (QT) has brought us a new understanding of fundamental aspects of matter that has resulted in the development of new materials and devices, giving rise to one of the greatest technological revolutions ever witnessed by humanity”. In his participation in the 23rd RNP Workshop, the professor will address this concept and the new ways of processing information, in addition to presenting an initiative that aims to develop these technologies for the national and global market.

In addition to deep techs and quantum technologies, the 23rd edition of the WRNP also addresses other current topics, such as metaverse, neutral chip, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Check the complete event schedule here. To sign up, Click here.

The RNP Workshop is a free event aimed at researchers, professors, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as IT and innovation professionals. It takes place in parallel with the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC), organized annually by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and, in 2022, will be held online for the third year in a row.
