The National Education and Research Network (RNP) holds, on May 23 and 24, the 23rd edition of the RNP Workshop (WRNP 2022). The traditional meeting between researchers, professors, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as IT and innovation professionals, will be 100% online for the third time. This year, current topics such as cybersecurity, metaverse, 5G and 6G networks, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies will be addressed by Brazilian and foreign experts. The event is free and registration must be made through the event website by May 24th.

“WRNP is an event where we talk about research, innovation and advanced internet. We are very proud to continue this event, which has the innovative spirit of a startup”, said RNP's Research, Development and Innovation director, Iara Machado.

Aimed at undergraduate and graduate professors and students, as well as market professionals, government agencies and companies operating in the innovation ecosystem in Brazil, the WRNP aims to bring the public closer to the main technological advances in Research and Development in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) area, inside and outside Brazil.

Among the confirmed speakers are keynote speakers Walter Willinger, chief scientist at NIKSUN (a cybersecurity company), and one of the world's leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI), and Liane Tarouco, researcher at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and member of the Internet Hall of Fame. Willinger will talk about advances in AI in the area of computer networks and Tarouco will be interviewed by Iara Machado about her professional trajectory, which followed the advances of the Internet in Brazil.

This edition's schedule also includes panels such as "Towards the Metaverse", "Neutral Chip and its Opportunities" and "Accelerated Digital Transformation and Increased Risks of Cyber-Attacks: How to Prepare the Workforce for These Challenges?", in addition to presentations by the Advanced Services R&D Program working groups. The event traditionally takes place in parallel with the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC), organized annually by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC).
