The Executive Board of Directors RNP is composed of the general director Nelson Simões and four executive directors. See each of them:
General Director
Nelson Simões
Nelson Simões works as general director of RNP since 2002. He was a member of the Internet Managing Committee in Brazil, elected as a representative of the scientific and technological community between 2002 and 2010, and works in this position also at Cinemateca Brasileira and other organizations. He was director of the Latin American Advanced Network Cooperation (CLARA) from 2003 to 2014, the international organization responsible for the regional Latin American research network. He is a computer engineer by PUC-Rio and has a master´s degree in Communication Policies by Universidade de Brasília (UnB).
Engineering and Operations Director
Eduardo Grizendi
Eduardo Grizendi is Engineering and Operations Director of RNP and professor at the National Telecommunications Institute (Inatel) in the area of Innovation and Business. He has worked for companies and institutions in the telecommunications and innovation area, including CPqD and Inova Unicamp Agency. He is an electronic engineer by the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA), has a master's degree in Telecommunications by Inatel and MBA by Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). He is the author of a manual for Brazilian ICT companies, promoted by Softex and published by Editora Publit, Rio de Janeiro.
Administration and Finance Director
José Luiz Ribeiro Filho
José Luiz Ribeiro Filho is responsible for leading several projects, such as Redecomep (Metropolitan Community Networks for Education and Research) and Rute (Telemedicine University Network). He was also a member of the Brazilian Internet Management Committee (CGI.br) between 1998-2000 and 2011-2014, having represented the country and RNP in different international forums and entities, such as the Internet Society (ISOC), Internet 2, ICANN, LACNIC, among others. He holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science by the University of London, a master's degree in computer science by COPPE Sistemas and he is electronic engineer by UFRJ. He participated and led several projects in the areas of computer architecture and electronic networks at NCE / UFRJ in the 80's.
Services and Solutions Director
Antônio Carlos Fernandes Nunes
Antônio Carlos Fernandes Nunes has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj) and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Teleinformatics and Automation from the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research in Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de January (Coppe/UFRJ). At RNP, he coordinated and acted in several projects and initiatives in a trajectory of more than 20 years, until reaching the Services and Solutions Department. During this journey, he was coordinator of FIX/PTTMetro in Brasília, supervisor of Redecomep (Community Networks for Education and Research) in the Midwest, responsible for the Internet Data Center (IDC) of RNP, deputy director of Services Management and, years later , Solutions Management. He also coordinated RNP's participation in projects with Europe and Latin America, such as ELCIRA and MAGIC.
Research and Development Director
Iara Machado
Iara Machado holds a degree in Physics by Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a master's degree in Computer Networks and Distributed Systems by Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). She has MBA in Entrepreneurship by the Institute of Economics/UFRJ. She worked at Embratel in the Network Management Systems area. At RNP, her activities involve collaboration with the research community in Computer Networks and Distributed Systems, in the development of Networks and Advanced Applications.
