RUTE attends Forum Internet in Brazil

The University Tele-Medicine Network (RUTE) attended the 10th Forum Internet in Brazil (FIB10) promoted by the Brazilian Internet Management Committee CGI.br) annually, which has been held virtually between September 21 and 25. The specialist from the Health Community of RNP/RUTE Paulo Lopes attended the main session on 09/22, where the topic "Internet, pandemic and sustainability” discussed, with participation of Laura Tresca (Artigo 19) as moderator, Carlos Afonso (Instituto NUPEF),  Andriei Gutierrez (IBM), Tatiana Schor (SECTI-AM) and Artur Coimbra (Ministry of Communications).

The panel brought internet and sustainability topics in the new topic line inaugurated by the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in 2020. It is based on seeking to comprehend the impacts of internet and ICT on the environment and the climate changes, in addition to comprehending how these technologies can also be agents of transformation and protection, improvement of life and preservation in the cities, reduction of the carbon impact, etc. In this context, the session also discussed the social consequences from the Covid-19 pandemic and how internet and its technologies has been operating in the perspective to mitigate negative effects, in addition to playing a fundamental role for creation and implementation of solutions from lessons learned during the restriction period.

Deputy councilor of CGI.br, with experience in RUTE/RNP and member of the Brazilian Health Informatics Society (SBIS) and the Brazilian Association of Tele-medicine and Tele-health (ABTms) Paulo Lopes was invited to present the Digital Health subject to this discussion space at the event. He approached some examples of actions to combat the new coronavirus, especially the importance of tele-medicine, how they are associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the internet challenges for the Health Universalization. He completed thanking for the opportunity to be able to take the seed of Digital Health to the fertile soil of CGI.br to reduce the digital and social barrier: “Let spring start”.

The 10th Forum Internet in Brazil was supported by RNP Web Conference service in a big operation carried out by the Service Management Division (DAGSer).
