After two years in the online format, the Network Technologies Workshops (WTRs) will once again be face-to-face in 2022, with the WTR-PR as the starting point. The first of a series of 10 regional events will take place in Curitiba, from 28 to 30/6, in the Professional and Technological Education Sector of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). Registrations will be open until the start of the event.

It will be the 6th edition of WTR in the capital of Paraná. The event, organized by RNP's Point of Presence in Curitiba (PoP-PR), is aimed at managers and technical teams in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) area of the main public and private educational institutions in the state. The objective is to discuss topics such as security and good ICT practices for networks and services.

Christian Lyra, PoP-PR coordinator, highlights the importance of going back to face-to-face meetings. “The event is much richer with the interaction between participants. During the coffee break, contacts are strengthened and opportunities to work together are created”, said Lyra.

In the first two days of the event, Antonio Marcos Moreiras, from NIC.br, will give a short course on Advanced Routing with IPv6, the most current standard of the Internet protocol. “Since this standard has not yet been fully implemented, there is a need to train people to get to know it better. The content in this course, with an emphasis on advanced routing, was tailor-made for WTR”, explained Lyra.

For the third and last day, six lectures are planned, on topics such as connectivity in universities and good practices in personal data governance. There will also be a round table between representatives of the Redecomep Program (Education and Research Community Networks) from Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu, Londrina and Ponta Grossa. The PoP-PR WTR  is supported by the Federal University of Paraná and NIC.br, the Information Center and Ponto BR Coordinator, which implements the decisions and projects of the Internet Steering Committee in Brazil.
