Being in Brasilia and being able to watch a surgery in real time and simultaneously, held in Paraíba, in a resolution four times higher than Full HD is already possible. In a joint demonstration with the Brazilian Company for Hospital Services (Ebserh), the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP) will hold, on November 30, a broadcast from the University Hospital Lauro Wanderley' surgical center to the local auditorium in João Pessoa/PB, and simultaneously to the EBSERH auditorium in Brasília, at 9:30 a.m. - local time.

For the debates and interaction between surgeons, health professionals, residents and students, will be used the videoconference service of RNP. Broadcasting in high definition will occur from a software package, which includes Fogo Player, Arthron and ICD, also developed in partnership with RNP. The national coordinator of the Telemedicine University Network (Rute), Luiz Ary Messina, states that this is one of the great achievements for health. ‘‘Students, residents, health professionals and other interested parties can watch the broadcast in 4k or high definition screens and receive in real time and online the images of the surgical plan, movement of the operating room, explanations of the surgeon and his/her team . The assistants can also ask questions directly to the surgeon and his/her team”, says Messina, who also classified real-time and ultra-high-definition broadcasts as an opportunity for surgeons to show and confirm the worldwide recognition of the Brazilian medical class.

This will be the first time that the pediatric surgeon Paulo Germano conducts a surgery that will be broadcasted in 4k. ‘‘The technology is capable of promoting incredible integration. It can coordinate a surgery like this reaffirms our commitment to using modernization to benefit health’’, he emphasizes. According to the physician, this is the opportunity to draw the attention of professionals for the treatment and correction of the cleft lip, since this is the surgery that will be broadcasted. ‘‘Disclosing this procedure with children also serves to alert future physicians that many states in the Northeast still do not offer the correct method of treatment’’.

On the same day, the Ebserh Network also intends to serve more than three thousand people in the I National Health Task Force, which aims to reduce the waiting queue in federal university hospitals and the Health Unic System by up to 32%. The initiative counts on actions in the 39 affiliated federal university hospitals, present in the five regions of Brazil. RNP will provide the necessary support to enable physicians and managers of Ebserh hospitals to monitor and discuss the progress of the consultations in real time and to interact at any time by videoconference.
