Telemedicine University Network starts the year with 120 units

The Telemedicine University Network (Rute) began the year 2016 with 120 units in operation throughout Brazil. To the next year, will be inaugurated 12 telemedicine units and the creation of four Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

The achieved goals in 2015 includes the opening of 12 telemedicine units and the creation of three SIGs on Cerebrovascular Accident (AVC), Tropical Medicine and the Brazilian Network of Healthcare Technology Analysis (Rebrats), in addition to the maintenance and operation of the 57 existing SIGs.

There was also the consolidation of the processes of ratification of videoconference rooms and Rute’s and RNP’s role in integrating initiatives, developing and implementing strategies for healthcare education and research, progressing with the international articulations, especially with Latin America and Portuguese-speaking countries, and with the federal, state and local governments and related bodies.

Other great highlights of the year were the inclusion of the Telemedicine item into the agenda of the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) group and the successful transmission, by Rute, of the Program of Support to the Healthcare Professional Area Residency, coordinated by the Ministry of Education (MEC), from September to December. Over 7 thousand hits and exhibitions in 45 videoconference rooms were recorded, totaling 617 participants.
