Last Friday (July 28), the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Alagoas (Fapeal), manager of the RNP Points of Presence in the state, held the Network Technology Workshop (WTR) in its auditorium, in Maceió. This was the first event held in Alagoas, which brought together managers and technical teams from the ICT area of the state's main public and private education and research institutions, including the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal) and the Federal Institute of Alagoas (Ifal) .

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship between regional institutions and to promote highly technical discussions, in order to exchange knowledge and experiences. The programming brought current themes from the universe of networks, as IPv6, monitoring, information security and advanced ICT services.

During the event opening, the executive officer of Fapeal, Fábio Gueres, stressed the importance of promotion activities to research and technological innovation in the state. “The partnership with RNP allowed to connect Uneal, including in other spaces as the IMA – Alagoas Environment Institute, which conducts research, has a great integration with the federal university and an important laboratory”, said Fábio Guedes.

The Fapeal director also stressed the need for expansion of the academic network for the interior and partnership with the state government. “At Ufal, the number of researchers grows exponentially, apart from the challenge of connecting services packages to the interior of the state. In Arapiraca, for example, the consumption of data will increase because there are campuses in processes of evolution, this in relation to the Ufal customers and the others”, said Guedes.

The WTR-AL programming lectured by the PoP-AL technical team on advanced ICT services offered to institutions, network monitoring and IPv6 compliance actions in the state. The event also featured presentations from RNP, including the Security Incident Response Center (CAIS), which brought a panorama of information security and fight against malicious activity.
