Cybersecurity Solutions are highlights of Start-up Brasil

- 22/02/2018

The Start-up Brasil program announced on Wednesday (21st) the final result of the class 5 start-ups evaluation. Among those selected are two companies founded within Working Groups supported by the Brazilian National Research and Educational Network (RNP): CyberSecurity++ and Actions Security. The chosen ones will receive foster grants from the Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), for the development of software, hardware and services of information technologies. In addition, they will be supported by accelerators in the development of their business.

CyberSecurity++ is a company specializing in systems for anticipating cyber threats and intelligence in cybersecurity. The start-up also provides risk analysis consulting to public and private organizations. During the selection process, CyberSecurity++ was one of the highlights. Still in the preliminary stage, the company obtained maximum score in the category of team technical training. For Wagner Monteverde, the start-up CTO, the program is a great growth opportunity. "We worked hard to be one of the selected. In the preliminary stage we were evaluated with a score 9.2 of 10, which is very good. We believe that the support of the CNPq grant will be important to our structuring project in the market", he says.

Actions Security also provides solutions in the area of cybersecurity, focusing on the development of innovative tools to mitigate in real time some types of attacks, such as distributed denial of service, known as DDoS. At the end of 2017, the company participated in an incubation program at the Paraíba Technological Park (PaqTc-PB). Actions Security coordinator, Iguatemi Fonseca, plans how the resource will be invested. "At first, we intend to allocate the grant to attract new associates and develop the Front-end and Back-end to accelerate the process of designing new tools", he points out.

It is not only the participation in Start-up Brazil that these companies have in common. In 2017, they participated in the InovAtiva Brazil program, an initiative of the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) and the National Sebrae to offer training, mentoring and connection to well-evaluated innovative companies. "It was a very important phase for us. We had direct contact with investors, which is of inexplicable value. The whole process of training, planning, bootcamps and pitch has contributed to our current phase", completes Wagner Monteverde, from CyberSecurity++.

In Start-up Brasil, according to the edict published in August 2017, the amount of BRL 9.7 million is destined to 50 projects of technology-based companies, accelerating until 2018. Each start-up shall receive a grant of up to BRL 200,000 from CNPq. The funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC).
