RNP and Switzerland's academic network, Switch, have been in contact for a few months to exchange marketplace knowledge and experience for cloud services: RNP's NasNuvens, which is under development, and Swiss SWITCHhub, which is already being produced. To formalize this cooperation, RNP and Switch leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the institutions.

This MoU aims to collaborate and develop applications and technologies, focused on cloud offerings, considering that they both use the Jamcracker cloud management platform as the marketplace basis.

“I am very pleased with the partnership we have with RNP and Switch on the cloud project we have on both sides. To strengthen this partnership, we have chosen MoU and hope to find more NRENs around the world that have similar strategies. I am looking forward to working with RNP and making a difference to our customers,” said the head of Switch Articulation and Digital Solutions, Marco Dütsch.

Integration of worldwide academic networks

Over the years, several actions have been developed through the partnership between academic networks.  After all, this integration is critical for evolution and brings benefits to customers around the world. “We are only one global community of students, professors, and researchers. In RNP's 30 years of history, we have learned and advanced by sharing our skills and experiences, as we are doing now with our Switch colleagues. Our expectation by signing this knowledge exchange with Switzerland is to further strengthen the ties of this community, as well as to generate new ideas, applications and technologies,” said RNP General director, Nelson Simões.
