21º SCI congregates professionals in Goiânia

- 19/10/2015

This week, between October 19 and 23, the city of Goiânia will host the 21st Training and Innovation Seminar, an event promoted by the Brazilian Education and Research Network (RNP) that gathers professionals from Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), representing user organizations of the national academic network, Ipê network, and  from the 27 RNP Points of Presence (PoPs) across the country.

The Training and Innovation Seminar will take place at Castro’s Park Hotel. Courses with a 20-hour workload and unseen themes on the network and ICT universes shall be offered:

  • Automation of Ethernet connections using filters: aims to train those interested in the deployment of the necessary infrastructure for the use of the Layer 2 connectivity service, which consists of the establishment of point to point or multipoint Ethernet connection, between two or more of RNP’s Points of Presence, to interconnect clients or to meet internal demands.
  • Security vulnerabilities management: shows the importance of the utilization of a process to manage vulnerabilities in IT environments, by addressing basic concepts on risks, threats, forms of attack and vulnerabilities in networks and systems.
  • Management by processes: addresses in a practical manner the entire management by processes cycle, including mapping, analysis, redesign, definition of performance indicators, documentation and planning of the deployment.
  • Agile infrastructure: the course teaches the main tools, methods and good practices for the deployment of this infrastructure, covering deployment, configuration and optimization of the solutions in an integrated manner.
  • Installing and configuring fone@RNP’s PBX-IP: aims to train technicians from fone@RNP’s client institutions to install configure and operate the PBX-IP module of the academic VoIP service, also including the functions of the set of modules that comprise the architecture of the service.
  • Optimizing the performance of networks to support scientific applications: introduces the main topics linked to the training of a network performance expert, such as the analysis of scientific applications, security aspects and requirements, network monitoring and testing, tools and optimizations for transfer and appropriated network architectures and services.
  • SDN – Software Defined Networks: an emerging paradigm in computer networks, the course will present and discuss cases of use and applications of Software Defined Networks, with the performance of practical exercises in the Minimet emulation environment and also in the testbed made available by the Fibre project, by Future Internet. ONOS will also be used, a large controller used even by telecommunication operators.
  • Short-length Videos (SLV) in education: presents dynamics and tools for the generation and availability of short-length videos, which are easy to produce and inexpensive, in order to improve the efficacy in communication between IT managers and their internal or external publics.

In addition, it will also be possible to partake in technical meetings on Training, Security, Services, Infrastructure and Governance on IT, Research and Development, Network Operation and Points of Presence.
