- 13/05/2022

At the invitation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), the national coordinator of RUTE/RNP, Luiz Ary Messina, was part of the Brazilian delegation of researchers that participated in the III Brazil Innovation Week in Sweden, held in Stockholm, from 5/9 to 5/13.

The program included a meeting with representatives of Vinnova, the Swedish innovation agency, on 5/9, with the mission of strengthening Sweden's ability to innovate and contribute to sustainable growth.

The following day, a meeting of the Working Group on Innovative High Technology (WG-ATI) was held, in which the WG's progress in relation to the 2021-2023 action plan and the collaborations that have been taking place in the Bioeconomy, Smart Cities, Health, Sustainable Mining and Financing Agencies subgroups were presented. On the occasion, the Health subgroup, represented by Luiz Ary Messina and Heather Marshall-Heyman (Swelife / Karolinska Institut) shared with those present the cooperation between Unesp, UEPB and the University of Upsala in obtaining 1st place in the Hackathon on Childhood Obesity Prevention in 2021 and the collaborative projects in articulation.

On 5/11, Messina coordinated the panel on Digital Health, which included scientists from several Brazilian and Swedish organizations, some remotely. They exposed the lines of research they are following, discussed what perspectives can be expected for a collaboration between Sweden and Brazil, and above all, they exchanged experiences, discoveries, results and demonstrated a willingness to cooperate.

On the 5/12, the coordinator of RUTE participated in a new meeting with Vinnova, this time to discuss sources of funding for innovation. Representatives of Brazilian funding agencies Finep, Fapesp and Embrapii were also present at the meeting, who presented and discussed their funding models, representatives of the MCTI and the Swedish Embassy in Brazil.

The III Brazil Innovation Week in Sweden ended with a continuation of the discussion on financing models for innovation, on 5/13, in which presentations were made on the structure of the MCTI and the Horizon Program of the European Union.
