The program for the third day of the RNP 2021 Forum was opened by the director of Communications at Géant and member of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), Cathrin Stöver, keynote speaker at the event. She highlighted cooperation between countries to promote the development of people towards the skills of the future.

The speaker mentioned, for example, the role of academic networks in supporting research in areas such as climate change and cybersecurity. “The challenges are the same whether for researchers from the United States or from Africa,” she commented. She also highlighted the importance of communities. “When we work together, we are stronger, allowing for the collaboration of scientists and global teams,” said the Géant manager.

Focus on employee experience

The second lecture was about the experience of employees, with the psychologist and coordinator of the Department of Management and Personal Performance and founder of LA-BORA!, Luana Faria. She explained that the topic is important because, based on the improvement in the employee's experience, there is also an increase in engagement and productivity, in addition to greater openness to innovation. Luana said that, in order to innovate, there must be specific conditions that support this innovation to happen. These conditions, according to her, are engagement and leadership.

The psychologist also explained that engagement is linked to trust. A Harvard Business School survey found that compared to people in low-trust companies, people in high-trust companies report 74% less stress, 106% more energy, and 76% more engagement. But part of the job of creating a positive atmosphere in the workplace also belongs to leaders, said the speaker, whose leadership style affects the organizational climate by 70%.

“Leaders must focus on people because they are the ones who generate results. When the leader only focuses on the goal, they spend more time and resources and are not efficient,” she explained.

Strategy for offering digital services to Higher Education Institutions

A panel on the strategy for offering digital services to Higher Education Institutions was attended by the Director of Services and Solutions at RNP, Antônio Carlos Fernandes Nunes; the secretary of Professional and Technological Education (Setec) of the Ministry of Education (MEC), Tomás Dias Sant'Ana; MEC's Undersecretary for Information and Communication Technology, André Castro; and the rector of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Edward Brasil.

Antônio highlighted RNP's commitment to the challenge under debate: NasNuvens, the organization's cloud solutions portal. “We are prioritizing the understanding that these are the offers that will meet the demands and main pains of our institutions. Today, the focus is very much on discovery, business, and sustainability of offers so that institutions can take advantage of this range of options that we are negotiating with various providers and partners, outside and within the RNP System”.

From paper to pitch: how to combine entrepreneurship and scientific research?

Even today, when we think about researchers, we always see them in laboratories, at scientific conferences and writing articles and papers. Is this the only space researchers can occupy, whether in our minds or in real life? To talk about this subject, we opened a space for debate on the subject, bringing data on innovation and entrepreneurship in academia here in Brazil, with the founder and CEO of Wylinka, Ana Calçado, and real stories of people who are occupying the two spaces - of researchers and entrepreneurs - and promoting impact on society. For this, we also invited the professor at UFPA and Co-founder of ApplicaTO, Kátia Omura, and the researcher at USP and Co-founder of Biolinker, Mona das Neves Oliveira.

They shared the challenges and opportunities for researchers to be able to transfer the product of their research to the market. "I suggest that these researchers seek training or acceleration environments and a space where they can be with other researchers who are in the same context of wanting to undertake, because this will shape the way of thinking and transforming these thoughts in a more innovative and entrepreneurial way", highlighted Ana Calçada. She also indicated that they access content on the topic and referred to Wylinka's own website, where they share partner information and tips for those who want to undertake in academia.

The importance of including telehealth in primary care

At the end of the day, Angélica Baptista Silva, from Fiocruz, and Alaneir de Fátima dos Santos, from UFMG, addressed the challenges for universal coverage of health services and brought survey data to collect recommendations with fifteen Brazilian experts in digital health related to the incorporation of health resources in primary care.

“The first recommendation concerns the need that we effectively manage to insert telehealth actions in the process of structuring primary care. This needs to be part of the work process of the family health teams. Our actions need to be closely linked to this structuring process”, highlighted Alaneir.
