New Reference Term of PPI in Advanced Internet is approved by CATI

At the beginning of march, the Information Technology Area Committee (CATI), in electronic voting, approved the new Reference Term of the Priority Informatics Program in Advanced Internet (PPI Advanced Internet), which enables RNP, project coordination institution, to get new resources of the Informatics Law from private companies to develop projects in the area.

The Reference Term adapts the previous PPI, coordinated by RNP, to the guidelines and the goals of the new cycle of the Management Contract (2020-2024) which enabled expanding the reach and the integration of RNP. Among them, there are promotion of cyberinfrastructure as a shared research infrastructure, which provides experimental development services and innovation of ITC products and processes, in partnership and collaboration with the private sector.

The adaptation also potentializes the results of the inclusion of new user organization categories at the RNP System, such as innovation environments and innovating companies with the purpose to progress actions aligned with the new goals in research, development, and innovation.

“PPI in Advanced Internet will enable RNP to capture resources to develop projects of its interest, aligned with its mission. It is also a complementary opportunity for RNP to work as provider of interaction between industry and academic environment, enabling science developed in the country to be used to attack concrete problems”, the director of RNP Center for Research and Development in Digital Technologies for Communication and Information (CTIC-RNP), Lisandro Zambenedetti Granville says.

After approval by CATI, the preparation of a model to manage PPI in Advanced Internet is in progress, and it will be submitted to assessment by the Executive Board of Directors of RNP.
