RNP is accredited by the National Petroleum Agency to carry out R&D projects

The National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) granted accreditation to the National Education and Research Network (RNP) as a science and technology institution (ICT) qualified to carry out Research and Development (R&D) projects in these areas.

According to the ANP, accreditation is necessary to carry out projects with resources from the RD&I clause contained in contracts for the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas, in order to encourage research and the adoption of new technologies for the sector.

Also according to the regulatory agency, accreditation is the formal recognition that "the institution operates in RD&I activities in areas of relevant interest to the oil, natural gas and biofuels sector, and that it has adequate infrastructure and technical and operational conditions for its performance”.

In order to obtain accreditation, RNP, through its Research, Development and Innovation Directorate, demonstrated its experience in the development of algorithms and techniques for the acquisition, transfer and processing of research data, in addition to demonstrating that it has enabled research infrastructure for such activities, such as the Brazilian academic network itself, the Ipê network, and by the RNP Testbeds Service.
