In November, Cinemas in Network presents a debate about indigenous women

The National Education and Research Network (RNP), in partnership with the research group Poéticas Ameríndias, promotes the cycle “Other Amerindian movies: new perspective about the indigenous audiovisual production” in October, November and December. On November 19 at 7 p.m., the topic will be Successful indigenous women (partnership with II Mostra Amotara - Olhares das Mulheres Indígenas). 

Among the guests, there are the indigenous producers and directors Marta Tipuici (Manoki/MS) and Vanuza Bomfim (Pataxó/BA). Marta lives in the village of Treze de Maio, in the Indigenous Land Irantxe, municipality of Brasnorte-MT. She has lived in other places, such as Cuiabá, where she graduated Social Sciences at Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso  (UFMT). She served as an Indigenous Health Agent and is currently a teacher and coordinator of the state education network of Mato Grosso. One of her passions is the work with cinema and popular and indigenous communication. 

Vanuzia has a degree in Inter-cultural Qualification for Indigenous Educators from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Currently, she is a teacher of the Porto Seguro City Hall. She has experience in the History area with an emphasis on History. Participation as co-director of the movie “A Força das Mulheres Pataxó de Barra Velha”. Currently studying Master´s degree in Teaching and Ethnic-Racial Relations at Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia (UFSB). The Assistant Professor of Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia in the field of Video Arts, Joana Brandão Tavares and the indigenous journalist and director, Olinda Muniz Wanderley will be the curators.

The activities of Cinemas in Network, one of RNP´s initiatives with the community of cinemas and exhibitors of the federal universities and institutes, the circuit will provide movies and debates with directors, indigenous audiovisual producers and researchers with the purpose to enable circulation of ideas and thought about the recent indigenous audiovisual production in some regions in Brazil.
