This October, the project Networked Cinemas shows the feature film Redenção, directed by Marcel Kunzler. The film production will be screened on October 18th (Thursday), starting at 7pm. In this edition, seven theatres of Brazilian federal institutions will participate in the screening of the movie and the post-session debate. Admission is free.

With the label of the production company 'Primeiro Corte Produções', the movie, which was released in 2016, is a science fiction set in a dystopian future. The story shows a city amidst local destruction, where survivors are looking for ways to dodge adversity. However, the arrival of a stranger ends up directly influencing the life of the village.

After the session, the producer Flávia Matzenbacher will be present at the Sala Redenção of UFRGS, in Porto Alegre, to participate in a debate. Assistant Executive Producer of "Meu tio matou um cara", (2004), "Sal de Prata" (2005) - awarded for best editing at the Gramado Festival - and more recently, the miniseries "Redenção" (2015) and "Caixa Preta"(2017), Matzenbacher will bring a long experience in audio-visual productions. Also participating in the debate will be the coordinator and curator of Sala Redenção, Tânia Cardoso, who has a Master’s Degree from UFRGS with analytical work between the dystopian vision of George Orwell in 1984, and the concerns of Ignacio de Loyola Brandão with the dismantling of the modern project.

The debate will be broadcast in real time to the other participating institutions of this edition: Cine Arte UFF (Fluminense Federal University), Cine Aruanda (Federal University of Paraíba), Cine UFG (Federal University of Goiás), Cine Metrópolis (Federal University of Espírito Santo), CineUFSCar (Federal University of São Carlos) and Cinema of UFBA (Federal University of Bahia).

The event is another edition of Networked Cinemas, an initiative that connects cinemas and exhibitors from federal institutions of education, science and culture to RNP, creating a national circuit for Brazilian audio-visual production. Also in 2018, a cooperation qualification program will be launched to survey the situation of exhibitors in universities and federal institutes, and subsidize the expansion of the network in Brazil.
