The project Networked Cinemas return to the activities in the second half of the year and shows the feature documentary “Seu Carlito – Narrativas sobre um Comerciante da Roça” [Mr. Carlito – Narratives about a Rural Merchant], from the Director of the State of Minas Gerais – Eduardo Moreira. The documentary will be shown on August 10, 12 and 15, at 07:00 p.m., in several public universities of the country. Free admission.

The documentary is a search for the memory of Carlos Moreira, a merchant and farmer in Manja Léguas, a subdistrict of the city of Piranga, in Minas Gerais. “It is based on the memories of my grandfather and brings the reality of the man from the countryside. There are histories and passages lived in the daily life, that were passed hereditarily”, says Eduardo Moreira, the director.

After the exhibition of August 10, a debate will be held with the director, at the Teatro Vila Rica de Ouro Preto, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (Ufop). The chat will be broadcast to other cinemas on the university circuit by the Web Conference service. For the director, discussing collective memories is critical. “The documentary is just a search and rescue of memories, not from just my family. I wanted to show the importance of not letting the tales and popular sayings die, which are gradually being lost”, he adds.

In addition to Cine Teatro Vila Rica, from UFOP, other five rooms connected by the Networked Cinemas also participate: Cinema of UFBA (Universidade Federal da Bahia), Cine Arte UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense), Cine UFG (Universidade Federal de Goiás), Cine UFPel (Universidade Federal de Pelotas), and Redenção room (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul).
