Project Specialists from the Research and Development Center on Digital Technologies for Information and Communication (CTIC/RNP) will be in a webinar on cloud computing promoted in partnership with ESR and MCTIC support, on September 4th, at 3pm. The theme chosen for the first CooperaTIC Webinar was 'International Cooperation Projects in Computer Cloud'.

In addition to aspects of intercontinental experimentation in global cloud infrastructures and services, during the webinar, some critical issues of this type of service that still need improvement, such as security and privacy, reliable clouds, resource pooling, data management and traceability, virtualization and hybrid systems will be addressed.

"Even though cloud computing is already a global paradigm in providing IT services across all sectors of the new digital economy, much still needs to be developed. The goal of this webinar is to put experts who are at the frontier of research on the subject to share results and promote the exchange of ideas", explains Marcelo A. Marotta, CTIC/RNP project coordinator.

The guests to help lead the webinar are representatives of three projects that address cloud computing from the 3rd and 4th Brazil-European Union Cooperation Program: EUBra-BIGSEA, ATMOSPHERE and EUBrasilCloudFORUM.

EUBRA-BIGSEA  (Europe-Brazil Collaboration of Big Data Scientific Research through Cloud-Centric Applications) develops a cloud computing infrastructure for the analysis of big data and applications for smart cities.

ATMOSPHERE (Adaptive, Trustworthy, Manageable, Orchestrated, Secure, Privacy-assuring Hybrid, Ecosystem for Resilient Cloud Computing) aims to create a platform for developing and deploying reliable and secure applications in cloud computing environments.

EUBrasilCloudForum is a knowledge dissemination and management initiative that has created a discussion forum for organizations in Brazil and Europe involved in research and development in the field.

In 1995, he received a PhD of Computer Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom). His research focuses on the large area of distributed systems, particularly in the design, development and operation of distributed computing infrastructures (grids, clouds, etc.), with a focus on supporting e-science activities. The Brazilian professor has more than 20 years of experience in coordinating research, development and innovation projects, some of them financed by RNP. He has published more than 200 scientific papers in annals of congresses and periodicals. He is a member of the Brazilian Computer Society, the IEEE Computer Society and ACM.

Priscila Solis Barreto

Specialization in Computer Networks from PUC-Goiás, a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Goiás, and a doctorate in the concentration line in Telecommunications in Electrical Engineering from the University of Brasília (2007). She has worked professionally in the area of ​​informatics in several private and public companies. She is a member of the SBC and Regional Secretary of SBC in the Federal District. She is currently associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Brasilia. She has experience in Computer Science, with emphasis on Computer Networks and Teleinformatics, working mainly on the following topics: traffic characterization, network planning, network technologies, computer networks, distributed systems, communication protocols and performance assessment.

Wagner Meira Junior

Wagner holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rochester (1997), and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993 and 1990, respectively). Currently Wagner is a productivity researcher of CNPq (level 1B) and sub-coordinator of INCT-Cyber ​​- National Institute of Science and Technology for a Massively Connected Society. He has published more than three hundred articles in periodicals and impact conferences and is co-author of the book Data Mining and Analysis - Fundamental Concepts and Algorithms, published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. His research interests are in parallel and distributed systems, in particularly in its scalability and efficiency, ranging from massively parallel systems to Internet-based platforms, and in data mining algorithms, their parallelization and application in areas such as information retrieval, cybersecurity and e-governance.
