Call is open for papers on video collaboration

- 28/05/2018

Until August 6, the coordination of the technical Committee of Technological Forecasting in Video Collaboration (CT-Video) is receiving papers for the workshop “The Future of Video Collaboration”. The session will take place on October 18 as part of the 2018 WebMedia - Brazilian Symposium of Multimedia and Web Systems promoted annually by the Brazilian Computing Society (SBC). The event will happen between October 16 and 19 in the Rectorate of the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFB), in the city of Salvador.

This is the fifth edition of the workshop, which will be divided into two sessions this year. The first will be based on the presentation of selected papers. The second will bring a group dynamic with the goal of identifying opportunities for collaboration among the participants in order to encourage the creation of new joint projects. The workshop is open to all and it will be possible to participate remotely.

The focus on this edition is the submission of papers that reinforce the collaboration between research groups and laboratories, government bodies and companies involved, in any way, with video collaboration. To achieve this goal, the papers must have authors who are connected to, at least, two different academic groups, private or public.

“To facilitate the development of a paper between institutions, it is advised that the papers present a new technology or describe how a certain technology or solution could be applied to one specific area of knowledge, such as medicine, culture, education, public safety, etc.,” explains RNP R&D manager Leandro Ciuffo, who is one of the people coordinating the workshop.

In addition to being presented in the first session, the selected papers will also be published in the book “Workshops and Communications” of the 2018 WebMedia. Last year, a collection of papers was published by SBC in the book  “The future of Video Collaboration: perspectives”.

The results will be published on September 10. All files must be sent to the following email workshop-ctvideo@rnp.br. Any queries can also be forwarded to the same address.
