3rd BR-EU Coordinated Call on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

The notice

The Department of Informatics Policies (Sepin) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and RNP make the 3rd Coordinated Call BR-EU on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) public. The interested parties submitted their development and technological innovation works at https://jems.sbc.org.br/ctic_eubr_3 (link is external), until April 21 under the form and conditions set forth in the document.

The purpose of the call is to achieve close collaboration between Brazilian and European R&D communities, considering especially institutions, which are strongly involved with industries related to the selected topics: Cloud Computing, including security aspects, High Performance Processing and Experimental Platforms.

High Performance Processing
1. High Performance Computing for Energy (HPC4E)
The purpose of the project is to apply High Performance Processing techniques to the study of energies that represent the present and the future, including wind power generation, efficient combustion systems for fuels derived from biomass (biogas) and exploration geophysics for hydrocarbons reservoirs.

3. Europe Brazil Collaboration of Big Data Scientific Research through Cloud-Centric Applications (EUBra – BigSea)
Creation of sustainable international cooperation in the field of cloud services for big data analysis is the main purpose of the EUBra-BIGSEA project. It uses the consortium partners' multidisciplinary experience and knowledge in cloud computing, data analysis, security and software-defined services to achieve the goals of the proposal. In addition, the project also provides technology transfer to real use cases.

4. Fostering an International Dialogue between Europe and Brazil (EUBrasilCloud Forum) 
The EUBrasilCloudFORUM cooperation project aims to promote an environment that enables market research results to be absorbed, including organizations of all types and sizes. Thus, supporting the growth of economies in both Brazil and Europe. To this end, the project will create a web-based market place, offering a concrete and practical list of success cases and services that have emerged from the BR-EU partnership.
In addition, the project aims to structure a community-driven forum, which promotes dialogues about research and innovation in the cloud computing area. Out of the five selected projects, this one is aimed at knowledge dissemination and management - the others are for research and development (R&D).

5. Federated Union of Telecomunications Research Facilities for an EU-Brazil Open Laboratory (Football)
The general goal of the Football project is to develop and implement research structures together with a control platform in Europe and Brazil, which enable experimental research in the area of convergence between optical and wireless networks. The project also proposes to create a sustainable and collaborative ecosystem between Brazil and Europe in favor of the development of research and innovation.

European Notice of the 3rd Coordinated Call
The European notice (link is external) of the 3rd BR-EU Coordinated Call on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is available on the European Commission site. Please, note that the deadline for submission of proposals is April 21, at 5 pm (Brussels time).
Self-Assessment Form
Using the assessment methodology of the European partners as example, projects can be self-assessed. The form is available to the proponents, who would like to get assessment of their proposal on their own. The intention is to find ways to improve proposals before the official submission.
