Continuing the series on the main solutions created for the real needs of our customers in 2018, in this second matter, will be approached the outstanding projects developed in the areas Cloud Computing and Health.

Nasnuvens: a new era in RNP's service offerings

At the RNP 2018 Forum, the organization introduced its new cloud computing concept, Nasnuvens, which aims to be a single point of service offering tailored to the needs of RNP customers, with federated, secure and simple access. The solution provides several benefits, among them ease and agility in hiring services and reducing operating costs.

Last year's activities included service modeling, definition of the membership process and service usage policy, validation of the prototype in the visits to graduate programs of the three universities that are participating in the PPGs Initiative; besides the training of the RNP teams in the technological platform that will support the Nasnuvens. Initially, some of RNP's federated services will be made available, such as edudrive@RNP(link sends e-mail), Web Conferencing, Compute and FileSender, as well as vendor-recognized tools such as Microsoft's Office 365 and Google's Gsuite for education.

Collaborative health networks

In Health, RNP works by providing connectivity and an infrastructure of remote collaboration services to research groups, promoting integration and dissemination of knowledge. In 2018, it maintained its initiative to support the collaborative networks it provides - Rute, NutriSSAN, Telehealth Brasil Redes and RET-SUS - with actions aimed at improving and strengthening them, and, at the same time, encouraging the emergence of future interinstitutional works.

Rute

 The University Network of Telemedicine (Rute) brings scientific, technological, economic and social impacts to the medical services by enabling the implantation of systems of analysis of medical images with remote diagnoses, that can contribute much to reduce the lack of specialists; besides providing training and qualification of medical professionals without displacement to the reference centers. As a highlight in 2018, RNP carried out the adaptation of Sala Rute and the delivery of connectivity at Lagoa General Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the acquisition of equipment from the Rute Room for the State Hospital of Sumaré, at Unicamp. 

NutriSSAN

The network is a valuable contribution to the efforts of Brazil and the international community in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. Based on the technological platform for the collaboration of professionals and institutions related to food safety developed and structured by RNP, NutriSSAN was created in 2018. It was produced the video of dissemination of the initiative(link is external) and the units were expanded.

In this sense, the first steps were taken by the Secretariat for Research and Development Policies and Programs (Seped / MCTIC) when proposing a review of the network structure, creating five Regional Centers to facilitate the rapprochement of other institutions. These regional centers are fundamental for the approximation and support to the 89 institutions that participated in the announcement of the SSAN Network UnaSul. In September, the inauguration of the NutriSSAN units of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) took place.

"For Unesp, which is a multicampi institution, this type of resource is fundamental for teamwork. We have a working group created by the Rector's Ordinance, the Integrating Group of Teaching, Research and Extension in Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security (GISSAN), which brings together researchers from various university units, with partners in other universities inside and outside the country. The NutriSSAN unit facilitates our communication. The special interest groups systematize and guarantee the continuity of the communication processes ", explains the coordinator of the Unesp NutriSSAN unit, Maria Rita Marques de Oliveira.

RET-SUS

The Network of Technical Schools of the Unified Health System (RET-SUS) is a strategy of articulation, exchange of experiences, collective debates and knowledge construction in Professional Health Education. It is a government network created in 2000 to strengthen the training and qualification of mid-level professionals working in the area of Health. Last year, RNP started working on strengthening the network with the implementation of communication and collaboration tools; in structuring the first Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and in the development of the network portal whose Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is scheduled to be presented this month.

Telessaúde Brasil Redes

In addition to the expansion of the network, with the implementation of high-capacity access to 4 new hubs of Telehealth in 2018, we highlight the actions that have been carried out in GT-RarasNet; RNP Thematic Working Groups working group on eHealth, which initiated the third stage of development of the application for national information on rare diseases, including treatment protocols, drug lists and referral centers; in order to expand and qualify health care. The presentation took place on 11/12 at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and users were able to discuss the app, which will be made available for testing in February 2019. As a final result, it is expected to provide a robust, structured, fluid and intuitive service, allowing a wide and panoramic view of national and international information on rare diseases.

RGHU Network expansion

The University Hospitals Management Network (RGHU) project, started in 2016, aims at structuring a fiber optic network that links federal university hospitals managed by the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH). Last year, a cooperation agreement was negotiated between the EBSERH-MEC-RNP partners to release the financial resources needed to maintain and expand the initial network, the deployment of communication and collaboration services; the development and implementation of an ultra high definition pilot network (UHD) for university hospitals, as well as the training of professionals by ESR, starting the Phase 2 Project. The first phase connected the headquarters of EBSERH and 17 hospitals, remaining 22 for the second stage of implementation.

"This project is great and will bring many benefits to EBSERH. We will have at your disposal the services offered by RNP, such as CAFe and eduroam, for example, besides being able to perform transmissions of surgeries etc. In everyday life, we will be able to centralize the communication system between hospitals and all this with safety ", affirms the head of Services Oriented Solutions EBSERH, Gustavo Matias.
